We’re delighted that Aisha Adan has joined the Wasafiri team! Aisha joins as one of our Learning and Engagement Leads, based on Kenya’s Swahili coast in Mombasa. Read on to learn more about Aisha’s work and passions…
What brought you to Wasafiri?
Wasafiri is a group of explorers and pioneers. My wish is to walk with this team to achieve greater heights in tackling some of the complex problems the world is facing.
I am passionate about promoting peace – and I have worked with many communities across Kenya, particularly those in the Coast and North Eastern regions.
My background is pretty diverse – I have worked in the fields of governance, extremism, peace and security, doing a lot of qualitative and quantitative research, community and stakeholder engagement, project management, monitoring and evaluation. I am excited to apply these to my new role.
What are you working on currently?
I work within Wasafiri’s conflict portfolio on a large project tackling violent extremism in East Africa. My role is to harvest the knowledge and learning from organisations who are doing this work on the ground, so we can learn about what works. I can use these insights to help improve strategic partnerships, community and stakeholder engagement at the community as well as national levels.
