Chris is Wasafiri’s new General Manager covering everything from supporting the portfolios and business development to getting tea for the team!
Chris has a professional background that spans the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. He has over 15 years’ experience working in a wide variety of contexts, from child soldiers in East DRC to dictator consultants in the NHS, UK. He has lived and worked across Africa including extended periods in Botswana, Ghana, Senegal, Congo, Rwanda and Chad. He has worked for organizations including MSF, Save the Children and in Nepal for Oxfam and OPM.
Chris has been at the forefront of some of the world’s most complex environments; from the start of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa to the Sudan/Chad refugee camps; from the nutrition crisis in Northern Nigeria to leading Oxfam’s response to the Earthquake in Nepal, one of the world’s largest humanitarian programs. Chris comes from a Public Health (MSc from LSHTM) educational background and is perfectly matched with a more general role of leadership and management; he is passionate about the environment and will be growing Wasafiri’s climate change work.
Personally, Chris loves to mountain bike and get out into nature with his two climate warrior children.
