Mwendwa Catherine


Mwendwa provides research and stakeholder engagement expertise across Wasafiri’s portfolios and serves as a Non-Executive Board Member.

Mwendwa brings nine years experience in facilitating processes in philanthropy and peace spaces in Kenya and the larger Eastern Africa region. Her work focus has been driving conversations, research and action in local philanthropy policy and practice, countering violent extremism and enhanicing community resilience. Her technical competencies include network management, project design, research management and policy analysis.

Outside of Wasafiri, Mwendwa is a #GivingTuesday champion celebrating and promoting cultures of giving across Africa. Mwendwa holds an MA in International Conflict Management and a Bachelors’ in Public Administration and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She is also a Senior International Fellow of the Centre of Philanthropy and Civil Society, Graduate Centre, City University of New York.

In her free time, she enjoys travelling and photography.
