We’re thrilled that Abla Abubakar has joined the Wasafiri team! From Mombasa, Abla joins as one of our Learning and Engagement Leads. Read on to learn more about Abla’s new role and passions…
What brought you to Wasafiri?
I am very passionate about peace and security, governance and research around PCVE. This is reflected in my diverse background; I have a degree in Government and Public Administration and MA in Project Planning and Management. Also, I have vast experience in program and project management, especially in peace, security, conflict and development. I am excited to explore my passions and apply my knowledge to my role at Wasafiri.
What are you working on currently?
My new role at Wasafiri is Learning and Engagement Lead, which entails gathering knowledge and information within CREATE funded projects for better programming by CSOs in Mercy Corp, creating links between Wasafiri and the two levels of governments, other actors and the communities we work in.
I am currently working on a PCVE intervention program i.e. community-based research and action within Mombasa. This requires gathering knowledge within and around downstream partners in the coastal region and engaging various stakeholders in the PCVE space.
What are you looking forward to working at Wasafiri the most?
‘I look forward to engaging with and increasing my networks, having new, exciting experiences in all aspects of working at Wasafiri and continuing to learn and resolve complex issues.’
